The CVL Research Grants were established in 1999 as part of Pfizer Australia's long-standing commitment to clinical research. The program has been designed to promote clinical excellence in medical research throughout Australia.
Pfizer Australia will commit approximately AUD$800,000 in 2008 toward this initiative. Research Grants will be allocated through a panel of Australian physicians of the highest calibre in cardiovascular medicine, metabolic medicine, diabetes, neurology and epidemiology.
Each CVL Research Grant would be up to AUD$55,000 (including GST). Each grant is for 12 months.
CVL Research Grants has adopted a similar approach to NH & MRC. Initial assessments of applications will be made by outside independent referees and the ultimate assessment and decision will be made by the CVL Australian Physicians Independent Committee (APIC). Proposals for therapeutic trials involving Pfizer compounds will be referred to Pfizer Headquarters before following the same process. Details of investigator eligibility and conditions of application can be found here. Eligible areas of research are outlined here.
Applications for the 2008 CVL Research Grants close on 23 May 2008.
The CVL Research Grants are awarded to cover part salaries, equipment, research materials and expenses. Travel to conferences will only be funded up to the value of AUD$1500. You may wish to apply separately for one of the Cardiovascular Travel Grants to be awarded in 2008. These are awarded as part of an abstract competition for young investigators.
